AODA Assessments & Counseling
Understanding substance use and developing a personalized path toward recovery and well-being.
At Tallgrass Mental Health, we provide comprehensive Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse (AODA) assessments and individualized substance use counseling in a supportive, nonjudgmental environment.
Whether you're seeking an assessment for legal, professional, or personal reasons, our goal is to help you better understand your circumstances and identify appropriate next steps toward lasting well-being.
A Personalized Approach to Assessment
What to Expect During Your Assessment
AODA assessments, also known as Substance Use Assessments, help evaluate an individual's relationship with alcohol or other substances and determine whether additional support or treatment may be beneficial.
Assessments may be requested by courts, attorneys, employers, schools, or family members following legal concerns, significant events, or changes in behavior. Individuals may also seek an assessment voluntarily to gain a better understanding of their substance use.
Our assessments are conducted by an experienced substance abuse professional and include a comprehensive clinical interview, diagnostic evaluation, and individualized recommendations.
Support Beyond the Assessment
Comprehensive Clinical Interview
Assessments typically last between one and two hours and involve a confidential, conversational interview exploring alcohol and drug use, personal history, relationships, employment, and overall well-being.
Diagnostic Evaluation
Using established clinical criteria, including the DSM-5-TR, we evaluate patterns of substance use and determine whether diagnostic criteria for a substance use disorder are met.
Personalized Recommendations
Based on the assessment findings, recommendations may include early intervention education, outpatient counseling, or more intensive substance use treatment when appropriate.
Written Assessment Report
A detailed written report outlining findings and recommendations is available. With appropriate authorization, reports may be shared with attorneys, courts, employers, or other designated parties when requested or required.
Understanding substance use is only one part of the process. We also provide individualized counseling for adults seeking to reduce substance use, maintain recovery, or address the emotional and behavioral patterns associated with addiction.
Our approach incorporates evidence-based techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and mindfulness-based strategies.
Whether you're beginning to explore change or working toward long-term recovery, counseling provides a supportive space to identify challenges, strengthen coping skills, and develop healthier patterns.
Take the First Step Toward Clarity.
Whether you need a formal substance use assessment or are interested in ongoing counseling, we're here to help you understand your options and move forward with confidence.
